Victoria Grizzlies goalie Matthew Galajda has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 19, the league announced Monday.
Galajda stopped 86 of 89 shots while picking up a win and a shutout as the Grizzlies split the first two games of the Island finals against Powell River. The native of Aurora, Ont. stopped 56 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss in Game 1 and came back to make all 30 saves in a 4-0 victory in Game 2 where he was named 1st Star.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound netminder had a .966 save percentage in the two games and a 1.26 goals-against average for the weekend. He is committed to Cornell for next season.
